Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorders
(PMADs)

At The Village Holistic Wellness LLC, we understand the profound joys and challenges that come with pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. These transitions can be transformative but also overwhelming, leaving many feeling isolated or unsure of where to turn.
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) affect 1 in 5 mothers and include a range of emotional and mental health challenges that can occur during pregnancy or after childbirth. PMADs are common, treatable, and nothing to be ashamed of.
What Are PMADs?
PMADs encompass several conditions, including:
-
Postpartum Depression: Persistent sadness, loss of interest, or hopelessness.
-
Postpartum Anxiety: Excessive worry, panic attacks, or difficulty relaxing.
-
Postpartum OCD: Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
-
Postpartum PTSD: Trauma following a difficult pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience.
-
Postpartum Psychosis: A rare but severe condition requiring immediate care.
Symptoms may include:
-
Difficulty bonding with your baby.
-
Feeling irritable, overwhelmed, or out of control.
-
Changes in sleep or appetite.
-
Intrusive thoughts or fears about parenting.
-
Guilt, shame, or feelings of inadequacy.
